Your child’s feeding skills will be observed and assessed, and if needed referrals for another discipline to join your child’s feeding team will be discussed.
A formal report with any relevant diagnoses, resources, and individualized recommendations will be provided (this may include the option of ongoing feeding therapy with Blume Therapy Services).
Step 3: Intervention with Individualized Feeding Therapy with Blume Therapy Services
Strategies for intervention will be matched to your child’s presentation, needs, and family’s goals and priorities.
Both the child and caregiver will be actively involved in the feeding treatment and will be asked to practice strategies at home between visits.
Ongoing individualized therapy is typically recommended for an episode of 12 sessions at a time.
After the completion of the episode, skills and priorities are reevaluated with the family to determine if continued therapy is needed. It is common for patients to continue for 1-3 episodes of care (12 - 36 sessions). The total duration of treatment varies based on the starting level of skills, goals/priorities, and individual response to treatment.
